The ski season for most Colorado resorts lasts from late November to April, so now's a good time to book flights and make your plans. The sun shines on over 300 days even in the depths of winter. With summits of almost 3,500 meters there's some great snow coverage along lengthly runs surrounded by corridors of pine trees. There are 148 trails at Beaver Creek with ski fields covering an area of 730 hectares. With over 600 percent of the runs being devoted to beginners and intermediate skiers, Beaver Creek is just perfect foe those new to the sport. However, expert and advanced skiers will find the black diamond runs as demanding as anything else in the state.
Families will appreciate the recent opening of the new Children's Center and gandola where kids are well looked after while parents ski slopes and get the most from the freedom of the black trails. The new eight-passengers cabins transport young skiers to a state-of-the-art Ski School Center at the top of the lift.
Skiers can also relax in the Trapper's Cabin Restaurant located at almost 3,000 meters up the slope. The food served here matches the spectacular views of the Gore Range.
There is plenty of accommodation at Beaver Creek with 75 percent of if being ski-in- and ski-out right from the front door of your lodgings. The most prestigious hotel is the The Pines Lodge, situated amongst groves of aspen and pine trees. There are just 60 suites in this intimate properly and the facilities include the signature Grouse Mountain Grill Restaurant as well as an outdoor pool, jacuzzi and fitness center.
For something more affordable, the arrowhead Resort is just a ten-minute drive from Beaver Creek and it offers accommodation ranging from one to five bedroom condominiums thus making it ideal for families and groups. They also include full gourmet kitchens, fireplaces, washer/dryer and hot rubs in each condominium.
